Vintage Louis Vuitton Catalog Part 1

I’ve managed to grab hold of these precious photos of a really old Louis Vuitton catalog. I’m really not sure when this was published but if you know, please do comment or contact me.

Anyway, I’ve been addicted to Louis Vuitton since forever but unfortunately, I’m still on the stage of “saving up” for my first ever LV. But apart from bags and accessories, I really want to have an LV Catalog coz I love looking at the bags and stuff. If you tend to have a copy of the catalog (any season), and you don’t use it anymore or have a spare one, you can give it to me! Haha.. I promise you, someday, I’ll have my bag and catalog inside a huge “Brown Paper Bag”. But well, enough about me me me, i’ll now show you the vintage Louis Vuitton Catalog! This would be a kick ass journey to the past!

This is the cover of the Catalog, very simple brown background and a recognizable LV logo at the side.

The Le-flyel and Le Stratos traveling trunks. Have you noticed the the Le-flyel looks like the Alzer? Hmm..

Le Valises Stratos or The Stratos Suitcases Collection is line of hard sided luggage with a recognizable leather trim at the corners. Very old school!

The Le Serviettes is a collection of men’s briefcases. The Bag #421 (Porte-documents voyage) is the vintage version of today’s Soft Briefcase.

Vintage Louis Vuitton Catalog Part 1

Here’s some familiar looking bags but with slight difference. The bag at the lower left looks like the Keepall but does not exactly have the same shape. The bag at the lower center looks like a luggage version of the Papillon. Then the two bags at the upper right looks like the modern day Noe, but they have an outer zipper and vertical leather trimmings.

Well, that’s it for now. I really love the bag in the upper left of the last photo. I love it’s shape and it reminds me of the Cabas Soana. Anyway, the are still tons of photos and i’d be uploading them soon. But for now, you may want to subscribe via email to recieve updates from I LVOE LV. You can sign up below:

Hey Bengt! E-mail me your mailing address and I will send you a copy pronto!!!

I believe the upper right bag that resembles the Noe is the Randonee (Randonnee?) which was available in two sizes for many years, until around 2002 perhaps. Thanks for sharing the catalog, its quite charming to relive some of the atmosphere of the classics.

    ^ You’re welcome Anonymous! 😀

I own one of the bags in the last photo. Second bag from the left. It is from the seventies, and is just beautiful. My mother bought it when I was five years old, in 1973, and my daughter will get it when she is older (She is 19 now, so she really wants that bag.)

I wonder if there is a full list and pictures of all Vuitton bags they have ever designed?

I would like a copy…I shop alot on ebay and I see many bags that are different however, wanted to make sure they are authentic.

I have an original mint copy of this catalogue, a family member was in France in the early 70’s which supports Janne’s comment. What do you think it is worth?

I have a couple of speedys, a purse and a small cross shoulder bag, the latter two not featuring in this brochure and only one of the speedy bags has the paper LV tag?

Awesome!!!! I just got an vintage train case in the section “Le Valises Stratos”
shipped from Italy to Los angeles. I am in LOVE with it. This is not mine in the photo, but it looks exactly like it.

on the 3rd page, the small envelope looking clutch with the leather strap coming over the whole top, what is the name of that bag? I have one. THank you 🙂
