Taking Care: Epi Leather

Taking Care: Epi Leather

The Epi Leather is inspired by the grained leather used by Louis Vuitton in the 1920s. The process of making a perfect Epi takes a very precise and controlled procedure. First, the leather is tanned with plant extracts, then deep-dyed. Its uniqueness comes from the two tones obtained from a shine and a special coloring on the top of the grain. The Epi leather is water repellent so bags in this line are safe and are perfect to use during the rainy days.

With it’s broad range of colors, you’d never go wrong with an Epi Leather bag or accessory. Colors in this line includes five colors: Black, Red, Ivory, Cassis, and Grenade. There are also three other colors that have existed but are now discontinued: Mandarine, Moka, and Myrtille.

Here are the recommended care instructions so that you can enjoy your leather bag or accessory for many years.

Tip #1:
You should avoid your bag to be in contact with abrasive surfaces. Though resistant to slight scratches, the Epi leather is still vulnerable to sharp and jagged edges.

Tip #2:
You should keep your bag or accessory dry at all times and protect it from direct sources of heat such as radiators, microwave oven, inside of cars in summer, etc.

Tip #3:
To clean your bag, you can wipe it with a soft dampened cloth. Never use soap or solvent coz it might damage the leather.

So basically, the Epi Leather bags and accessories is perfect for people on the go. It’s elegant, conventional, sturdy and of course, easy to maintain. You can check out other Taking Care tips or you may also want to add more info by sending me a beep!

So, Bengt, I’m contemplating an Epi Ivory bag. The only thing that’s holding me back are thoughts of getting the outside of the bag dirty. By the sounds of this, it sounds as if the Epi Ivory would be easier to keep clean than I am thinking? What are your thoughts?

    To thatgurl:

Heya! I think the Epi is really easy to maintain (compared to Vernis which is a nightmare..)

If you’re planning to have an Ivory, just make sure not to have scratches on it coz the dirt would sink in to the scratch and it would be really hard to remove. But generally speaking, the Epi is a really good bag. It’s not that high maintenance!

Oooh, get that bag thatgurl! I’m so excited for you! Let me know your decision! 😀

Hello – I’ve searched high and low all over the internet and no one has any information on how to clean EPI leather. I have a yellow Jaune EPI wallet and there is dirt on the end of the wallet. I have a cleanser from Lovin my Bags, but it’s for LV Vachetta. Anyone have any information on a cleaner that will remove dirt from light colored EPI products? Thank you…
