Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott has been shooting Louis Vuitton's mainline ad campaigns since 2002 after Inez & Vinoodh and Patrick Demarchelier. Since then, Louis Vuitton has produced stunning high fashion ad campaigns that features supermodels and famous Hollywood stars.
Mert and Marcus' photography lend an air of grace and unmistakable perfection to advertising. "The difference between us and other photographers is that we care a lot about appearance," says Alas. "We spend most of the time in the make-up and hairstyling rooms, focusing more on the look than on more technical aspects. The technical part influences the final result by about 80-90%."We rely totally on retouching, and we wouldn't be where we are now without a good group of operators behind us".
Now that Mert & Marcus will not be shooting Vuitton's Spring/Summer ad campaign, here's a retrospective of M&M through the years:
Spring/Summer 2002. Tasha Tilberg, Natalia Vodianova, Anne Catherine Lacroix, Kate Moss
Fall/Winter 2002-03. Eva Herzigova
Spring/Summer 2003. Eva Herzigova
Fall/Winter 2003-04. Jennifer Lopez
Spring/Summer 2004. Naomi Campbell, Karen Elson, Amber Valleta, Kate Moss, Liya Kebede, Angela Lindvall
Fall/Winter 2004-05. Chloé Sevigny, Diane Krueger, Christina Ricci, Scarlett Johansson
Spring/Summer 2005. Uma Thurman
Fall/Winter 2005-06. Uma Thurman
Spring/Summer 2006. Gisele Bündchen

So, what's your favorite season? Mine is Spring/Summer 2008. I love the bright and vibrant colors, the sensual poses, the bags, the cars, and of course the supermodels! I will definitely miss Mert & Marcus for Louis Vuitton. I hope Madonna and Steven Meisel won't disappoint!

you forgot Liya Kebede for S/S 04.
Oh, yeah! I forgot to write her down! Thanks so much for reminding Kiks! Her one-page ad was so good!
I miss Mert and Marcus. I hope they come back for Fall/Winter 2009...
