The French Federation of Fashion and of Ready-to-Wear of Couturiers and Fashion Designers, the French fashion industry’s governing body has just released a press statement regarding new memberships to the Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture. The Federation has chosen Louis Vuitton and Lanvin to be official members and Prada as correspondent member of the Chambre Syndicale and would be presenting an Haute Couture show this coming Fall/Winter 2009-2010. Some of the current official members are as follows: Chanel, Christian Dior, Christian Lacroix, Givenchy, Jean Paul Gaultier, Georgio Armani, Valentino.
The House of Louis Vuitton, a first time member to the Chambre Syndicale has yet to release a press statement but insiders say that Marc Jacobs has been elated and is ready to face the challenge of creating haute couture. Does this also mean that Vuitton will be making one-of-a-kind bags along with one-of-a-kind clothes?
