For Fall/Winter 2009, Marc Jacobs was inspired by all those great French muses of the late ’80s specifically Marie Seznec, Victoire de Castellane, and Inès de la Fressange. The collection sure was a celebration of that decade with all of the glitzy excess, poufs, and ruffles.
Apart from the bags, shoes are always an omnipresent character in every season. They perfectly compliments the collection and adds more depth in every look. This season, these super sexy platform pumps with crazy hourgrass heels were inspirited by the frivolity of the quintessential Parisienne of the 80s. These shoes are called Cancan, named after a lively, high-kicking stage dance originating in 19th-century Parisian music halls and performed by women in long skirts and petticoats. All of the shoes are said to be 4-inches high, but I guess that it excludes the height of the platform. If we include the platform, the shoes are probably 5+ inches high.
So enough of heel height calculations, here are the goods:
Cancan Ankle Pump in Satin and Lace. What’s more French than the combination of satin and lace? These fabulous Cancans are tied in the ankle using the black velvet ribbon, it features a padded insock for enhanced comfort, has a leather sole and its conical heels are accessorized with two pearls. LEFT: Cancan Ankle Strap Pump in Brocade Fabric. This Cancan pump is made from a rich brocade fabric, probably silk and is woven with a raised pattern in gold thread. It also has a black velvet ribbon and features a padded insock for enhanced comfort, has a leather sole and its conical heels are accessorized with two pearls (one in gold, and one in white). The Cancan Pump in Brocade comes in color Gold and is exclusively available at Louis Vuitton stores for approximately US$1750.

LEFT: Cancan High Boot in Suede Baby Goat Leather and Patent Calf Leather. If you’re into high boots, this version of the Cancan is perfect for you. The shoe is made in suede baby goat leather with a ruffle accent at the top made from patent calf leather. Its exclusively available at Louis Vuitton stores for approximately US$2750.
CENTER: Cancan Thigh Boot in Calf Leather. Crafted entirely from calf leather, the Cancan thigh boot is definitely in trend this season as thigh high boots is ‘in’. This sexily laced thigh boots features zippers on both sides, padded insock for enhanced comfort, a leather sole, and a conical heel accessorized with two pearls (black and white). Exclusively available at Louis Vuitton for approximately US$4000.
