Louis Vuitton’s Fall/Winter 2009 show featured a number of striking accessories, but the bunny ears were definitely the most memorable. If you’re wondering about the conception of the bunny ears, Marc Jacobs explained it in the video of the making of the Fall 2009 campaign with Madonna. Marc says, “There’s a girl who works for us, Lucy, she’s on the design team, and Adrian, one of the boys, was tying a little bit of fabric around and it reminded me of bunny. We were thinking of all these different things like can-can dancers, and I saw this piece of fabric wrapped around Lucy’s head and said, ‘Bunny ears, that’s what we need to finish this look.’ So we made all these radzimir bunny ears and that’s how it happened. I like the kind of Playboy, French coquette aspect to it.”
Now that we know the backstory, you might think that the runway bunny ears are a bit too big and too out there. Well, for the retail version, the bunny ears has been toned down, which made it more wearable but still has the 80’s spirit. This stylish and cheeky accessory sure adds a touch of playful glamour on any special occasion.
