Of all the bags from Louis Vuitton’s Fall/Winter 2010 womenswear collection, this bag is what I think perfectly exudes the subtle elegance and feminine spirit of the collection.
Introducing the Cuir Orfèvre Néo-Speedy, part of this season’s luxurious and highly limited Les Extraordinaires capsule collection – a dazzling demonstration of Louis Vuitton’s impeccable craftsmanship and savoir-faire.
The Cuir Orfèvre Néo-Speedy is crafted entirely from sumptuously smooth and soft calfskin leather, with its doctor’s bag silhouette inspired by Louis Vuitton’s most iconic handbag, the Speedy. In it’s exterior, Néo-Speedy features a single top Toron handle and a neat flap secured by a golden brass S-lock – a reference to Louis Vuitton trunks – which, for the first time, is made partially covered in leather. Also, the bag comes with two leather key bells (clochette), one with Mink fur trim and one without. I personally like the furless clochette as the one with fur reminds me of a toothbrush. 😉
Even in its interior, the Néo-Speedy never fails to impress. The bag is lined in supple goatskin leather, and features a flat and a zippered pocket. Lastly, the bag comes with a textile cushion which serves as a stuffing for the bag when not in use which helps retaining its shape.
Cuir Orfèvre Néo-Speedy comes in two sizes: PM (11.4″ x 7.5″ x 7.9″) and GM (14.5″ x 7.5″ x 9.4″) and comes in one color for each size… Gray for the PM (pictured below) and Brown for the GM (pictured above). Price: US$5450 and US$5930 for the PM and GM respectively. Availability? Read on below…
Overall, the bag looks amazing. Some people might love the fact that there’s no trace of the Louis Vuitton logo or the Monogram flowers on the bag (except the tiny Louis Vuitton engravings in the hardware). Even in the pictures it looks stunning, how much more in real life, right? And speaking of real life, if you’re planning on purchasing this bag, it might be quite of a challenge. As I’ve stated earlier, the Cuir Orfèvre Néo-Speedy is part of the Les Extraordaires, which is notoriously known for being made in very limited quantities (even numbered) so I suggest you talk to your SA (show them some love and send them gift baskets… lol) and plead for them to trace and get this bag for you. If you live in a city where there’s a Louis Vuitton Maison (i.e. New York, London, Hong Kong, Paris, etc), you might have a slightly better chance of acquiring it. And lastly, if you’re a Louis Vuitton VIC… well, I bet you’re already happily carrying this bag right now! 😀
