Louis Vuitton Savoir Faire – Atelier Horlogers

A dream. An Icon. A masterpiece. Each Louis Vuitton product is the embodiment of uncompromising quality and exceptional craftsmanship. From the famous Monogram pattern to the astonishing Louis Vuitton diamond cut, the Maison enchants the world with its unique creations since 1854. Today, Louis Vuitton takes you to a journey through a world of luxury, inventiveness and excellence: the world of Louis Vuitton’s savoir-faire.

Seven crafts performed by hands outlined by daylight. They stitch the skin of a Speedy bag with beeswax-coated yarn, hollow a pea jacket at the waistcoat, sheath the trunk case of a Wardrobe with a creaser, smooth a shoe upper to perfection, scour the contours of a Craquantes jewel, coat the arms of a pair of glasses, file the bevels of a Tambour movement.

Gestures speak. Instrument confer. Words are silent. Passion is revealed. Bruno Aveillan brings his artist’s eye to the House’s know-how, passing it on in turn, in his own way.

Atelier Horlogers / Watch Workshop

A sense of craft marked by the presence of what they call a “layette” or nest of drawers. A case holding all the watch-maker’s instruments with drawers filled with magnifying glasses, tweezers and ever-changing screwdrivers sometimes in need of re-threading, to tighten the new screws in the shape of the Monogram, the House of Vuitton’s “DNA treasure”.

In 2002, Louis Vuitton established its name to the grand tradition of watch-making with the launch of its debut timepiece collection. In order to master this craft, Louis Vuitton established a specialized workshop in La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, home of the luxury watch industry.

From the Tambour to the Speedy to the new Mysterieuse, Louis Vuitton has proven itself through several collections to be a true artisan in the craft of watch making, notably with the Tourbillion which symbolizes Louis Vuitton’s tradition of Special Orders. Having enriched the centuries old craft with its own heritage, savoir-faire, and identity, Louis Vuitton has become an acknowledged artisan of time.
