Louis Vuitton Kusama Studio

Louis Vuitton has introduced Louis Vuitton Kusama Studio, an iPhone App dedicated to the artist Yayoi Kusama to support the Maison’s new collaboration with the Japanese artist. This new playful app will invite users to take pictures and “customize” them with a choice of three surprisingly creative effects that recall the world of Kusama. Dots, waves, mirrors… will add a new artistic and lively vision to pictures, transforming and deconstructing ordinary pictures into visuals inspired by the work of Kusama.

Social sharing functions will also be available within the iPhone App that allow the users to share their creations in a fun personalized photo gallery, either through different Social Media platforms or on the dedicated mini-site : louisvuittonkusama.com, in the section titled “Visions of the Kusama world”.

A new digital experience providing the users complete immersion into the world of Yayoi Kusama, this iPhone App is an amazing interactive tool to create infinite artworks and to share users artistic vision. Yayoi Kusama Studio is available worldwide in two languages: English and Japanese.

App Description:

Imagine yourself or your friends covered with dots, reinterpreted as abstract waves. This is how renowned Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama sees the world, and now you can too with the Louis Vuitton Kusama Studio app.

As part of an exclusive collaboration with the artist, Louis Vuitton has created a unique app that turns Kusama’s obsessions and signature visions into visual effects which you can easily apply to your own pictures.

After reinterpreting images of yourself or your friends while referencing Kusama’s art, you can share your pictures in a public gallery included in the application, on Facebook and Twitter, and on the minisite specifically created for the application.

An internationally acclaimed artist today, Yayoi Kusama started her career as an avant-garde painter in Tokyo in the 1950’s and became a leading figure of New York’s contemporary art scene in the 1960’s. Obsessed with repetition, pattern and accumulations, Kusama developed her own artistic style: a cross between pop art, surrealism, and minimalism.

Features:

– Works with photos taken with your iPhone camera, or pre-existing photos from your iPhone camera roll
– 2 effects available to transform your picture inspired by Kusama’s art: dots and waves
– A gradual and interactive transformation process
– Interactive with friends through a feature where you can give and receive ‘likes’
– Share results to a public gallery, private gallery in the app and on the Louis Vuitton-Kusama minisite
