For Louis Vuitton’s Fall/Winter 2012 show, the already elongated silhouette of the clothes was extended further by – at one end – tall hats in felt or pony skin, created in collaboration with milliner Stephen Jones, and – at the other – the vertiginously high heels of shoes inspired by girlish Mary Janes or traditional men’s Oxfords. Crafted in fabulous leathers, the shoes took the collection’s plays on proportion to cartoonish extremes with an exaggerated square toe, sometimes accentuated by a contrasting toe cap. Slim straps were fastened with large round or jewel buttons like those on the ready-to-wear, outsize welts ran all the way round the shoe and down the heel, and shiny transparent heels contrasted with matte leather.
