Hosted in the Cour Carrée du Louvre, Louis Vuitton Women’s Spring-Summer 2013 fashion show was once again a spectacular and overwhelming ceremony involving every single sense; a collection broadcast, where the Damier pattern provided the house’s signature.
Saskia Lawaks was there to document the electrifying atmosphere surrounding the show, grasping both intimate and social moments, during the few minutes before it began. These black and white testimonials were shortly handed to London based illustrator Jo Ratcliffe to add her own layer of colours and shapes, a series of drawings inspired by both the show itself and Marc Jacobs’ latest ready to wear collection.
Each of these women brought their own interpretation of one of the highlights of Paris fashion week in this unique collaboration, the intuitive illustrations and shapes offer an organic contrast to the rectilinear structures of Daniel Buren’s universe.
As Marc Jacobs puts it to describe his collection: “The fresh simplicity of the forms belies the intensity of the process that created them”.
