To celebrate the 34th America’s Cup, Louis Vuitton is strengthening its partnership with the legendary regatta as the official timekeeper for all of the World Series, the Louis Vuitton Cup and of course the America’s Cup, which will take place in 2013 in San Francisco. A milestone event that the Maison is marking with a highly sophisticated, multi-function Tambour Regatta… A watch that has been tailored to the demands of the latest America’s Cup World Series.

Whilst at first glance, this Tambour Regatta seems to share the spirit of the Maison’s regatta watches with its large window divided into several sectors for viewing the progress of the countdown, it turns out to be very different.

The Quartz version offers a regatta function with an audio indicator, whose countdown can be programmed to between one and ten minutes. A first in the sailing world, this is also combined with two other must-have functions at sea; a chronograph and an alarm.

The Automatic version on the other hand is powered by a self-winding mechanical calibre, it offers an unprecedented 5-minute countdown to adhere to the new America’s Cup rules. Once a countdown to 10 minutes, the rules of the Americas Cup allows the defender to change these timings as they wish and for the 34th series the current defender has requested a five minute countdown… A strong and exclusive piece of watchmaking expertise.

Original, design-forward and functional, Tambour Regatta America’s Cup is available in Louis Vuitton stores for US$6250 and US$11,600 for the Quartz and Automatic versions respectively.
