“Nicolas Ghesquière would bring a modern creative vision to the house’s women’s collections, building on the values of refinement, savoir faire and extreme quality.” – Louis Vuitton
It’s official. Louis Vuitton has named Nicolas Ghesquière – previously the creative director at Balenciaga (1997-2012) – as its new artistic director for Women’s collections succeeding Marc Jacobs who stepped down from Louis Vuitton last October after a 16-year tenure. Nicolas Ghesquière is set to show is first collection for the house next March.
Described as instinctively progressive, Nicolas Ghesquière helped Balenciaga regain its former prominence with his exacting, couture-like & experimental approach to fashion.
“Louis Vuitton has always incarnated for me the symbol of ultimate luxury, innovation and exploration,” Ghesquière said. “I am very honored of the mission that I am entrusted with, and proud to join the history of this great maison. We share common values and a vision.”
Congratulations to Nicolas and we look forward to seeing his first collection for Louis Vuitton!
